W3 Exploration and Review Methods

Life#

Gathering.png
As the year-end approaches, gatherings are becoming more frequent, both inside and outside the company. Coupled with a lack of exercise, I estimate I've gained about five or six pounds recently. January has passed in the blink of an eye, and I've only run three to five kilometers; to be honest, I feel a bit ashamed. It might be even worse in the future, every festive season I gain three pounds is no lie. This weekend, a friend invited me to have hot pot, and the five of us ended up eating four pounds of meat, which was just too much. After eating, we played King of Glory until dinner time. For dinner, we went out for big plate chicken noodles and sauced noodles. After dinner, we visited another colleague C's house, as I had previously been to C's house for a meal, and it was a complete mess. C said the cleaning lady had just tidied up recently, so we planned to check it out. Upon arriving at C's house, it wasn't as clean as expected, and I then found a potential future job for myself—cleaning uncle.

We stayed at C's for a while, and C opened his computer to show us his CF; I played a bit of the biochemical mode, and A played a bit of the transport ship. C's pay-to-win weapons were dazzling and overwhelming, continuously shocking us. After A made a flag saying he would go home after killing three people, we wrapped up our day.

Speaking of gatherings again, one day I went out to eat with colleagues from my team. In the end, there were two plastic bottles of Coke and Sprite left, and I put them in a colleague's trunk, worrying all night that the Sprite might freeze and explode, making a mess in the car. The next morning, I quickly contacted my colleague to check if the Sprite and Coke had exploded. Luckily, the weather wasn't that cold, and both the Sprite and Coke remained in liquid form. I sighed in relief, feeling the weight lift off my chest.

Technology and Software#

Those who followed my last weekly review might remember that I mentioned changing my review method from a diary to TickTick.
TickTick Export Image
This actually has the benefit that I can regularly (most likely) complete my review in TickTick at a set time each day, writing a clear review log during the process. Finally, I export it on my computer, write my own log in Obsidian, and publish it on platforms like WeChat public account, blog, Notion, etc. image

Oh right, speaking of Notion, the direct connection in China is still quite slow... I heard an offline version is coming out, and I was planning to give it a try, but the awkward loading speed is really frustrating.

After trying it for a week, the downside is: this kind of review feels more like a task; sometimes I have thoughts I really want to record, but I can't do so well in the check-in log because the check-in log isn't available whenever I want it. I have to record it in a diary instead.

Of course, there are also advantages: compared to not recording at all before, now I can at least consistently maintain seven entries a week. I still need to think about whether to record all logs in TickTick or keep everything in a diary; mainly because the reminders in a diary aren't very effective sometimes, and if TickTick reminds me to review in a diary every day, it feels a bit odd. Gradually, the things recorded in TickTick are increasing, and treating TickTick as a note-taking tool doesn't seem bad either. I'm not sure how to record it more reasonably. Although writing a diary is a subjective activity, it's really hard; sometimes I just feel too lazy to record (that's on me). In short, at this stage, I can only rely on TickTick for regular review reminders. For now, I won't think about these annoying issues; there will always be a way for me to stop thinking, a kind of physiological instinct for self-consistency.

Movies, TV Shows, and Books#

The Wall of Small Town and Uncertainty#

The book is divided into three parts

Part One#

A story of youth memoirs and a middle-aged man's search for his first love. The first part uses a dual perspective of youth and middle age to narrate the story. It tells of a small town without shadows, filled with unicorns, where he encounters his first love, seemingly the shadow from back then.

Part Two#

A story of a middle-aged man resigning and searching for a small town library.
Seeing Mr. Zi Yi start a family is quite heart-wrenching; the woman in a long-distance relationship gives up her current career, and her boss is very unpleasant.
Four main characters appear:

  • The ghostly skirt librarian
  • The library assistant
  • The yellow submarine boy
The submarine boy surprisingly knows the small town map, which is impressive; not just knowing, but he has an incredible ability to replicate it, drawing the map directly.
  • The blue muffin girl from the coffee shop

Part Three#

Haha, I didn't understand it; it wrote many great stories but left a lot of blanks. Reading this book gives a feeling similar to "The Universe Exploration Editorial Department" and "Eva" soul completion plan. The part involving divine concealment reminds me of "Higurashi: When They Cry."

This time I read it using Jingdu Tianxia; apart from the dictionary, it's not as convenient as WeChat Reading, and I can't sync across platforms.

Games#

Yuan Dream Star#

I downloaded Yuan Dream Star to play; the game has become flashy and full of patchwork. Perhaps because I'm a returning player, I was matched with a bunch of kids, and the experience of playing games with children is quite poor. I played Werewolf, and there were two kids in the game. One child was foul-mouthed and extremely dirty, making it quite uncomfortable. The other child recited lewd rhymes; I am already immune to lewd matters, but hearing it from a child's mouth was a stark contrast and somewhat uncomfortable. So I gave up the idea of playing with them.

NetEase Werewolf#

Werewolf indeed exercises the brain, especially in remembering others' speeches. It greatly trains short-term memory. However, many people's speeches are inappropriate, emotional, and uncomfortable, so I eventually gave up this game.

Hearthstone#

Damn, I actually returned to the Hearthstone national server. Playing it feels not much different; the mainstream decks are still those dirty hand knights, various rogues, and tech Malfurion.
